Rib Replacement - Umbrella Repair
99.9% of all umbrella repairs outside of the sting replacement are caused by high winds. Umbrellas have a series of arms / ribs that extend the cover out and to maintain the umbrella's shape. If one of these are broken in some cases we are able to repair.
In cases repair is not an option and if you know the manufacture of the umbrella we may be able to order a replacement rib from the manufacture.
Customer Umbrella Cover Replacement
Carmel Restoration has been making custom umbrella covers for your old umbrella frames.
There the years we have done less replacement covers as the cost of new umbrellas are cheaper then replacement the cover of your old umbrella. However, there is still a need for this service. Some people need a color specific to match your cushions or blend with your hour. In this case it is not able the money but you wanting what you want.
Just to give you an idea of the cost : Average umbrella requires 12 yards of material. The only fabric we recommend you use in Sunbrella Outdoor fabric. The cost of Sunbrella fabric is on average $45.00 per yard.
12 yard x $45 = $540.00 plus labor of $300-450.00
Making a new cover is not for everyone as it is much cheaper to buy a new one, but if you need a specific color or have a custom awing or umbrella all we need is the old cover and can make you a new one.
What to look for when buying a new umbrella ?
Carmel Restoration over the past 40 years has seen high quality, cheap quality, low quality and throw away quality umbrellas.
The most important thing to look for in a umbrella when buying new is the cover. The cover is 90% of the umbrella and the only thing that is along a direct sun light. The only fabric that we recommend is Sunbrella.
